A fine of Rs 1 lakh has been slapped on two companies and a house owner for allegedly flouting orders issued by the Ghaizabad district administration to check pollution.
The Supreme Court had on November 4 banned construction and demolition activities in the National Capital Region till further orders. The district administration is taking stringent action to ensure that the apex court directives are followed.
The fine was imposed after S G Alpha in Vasundhara and D S Enterprises at Lajpat Nagar in Sahibabad, and the house owner at Vijay Nagar Colony were found flouting the orders issued by the district magistrate to check pollution.
"The Ghaziabad Development Authority, municipal corporation, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation, Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad and all civic body heads have been instructed to depute their officials in their respective areas to check burning of garbage and stubble," District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey told PTI.
In case of burning, flames must be doused immediately and the action must be initiated against the guilty persons or institutions/establishments, the official added.
