2 dead, 12 taken ill after consuming spurious liquor

Two persons died and 12 others were taken ill after consuming spurious liquor in Dholna area of Kasganj district, police said today.

A 'bhandara' was organised at Nagla Bhandari village yesterday during which some persons consumed liquor at a near by primary school, they said, adding, they took ill late in the night and were rushed to the district hospital where Narain (16) and Mahendra (18) died.

One person Girish was referred to Aligarh in a serious condition.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Kasganj Radhey Mohan Bhardwaj said that prima facie it seemed that it was not a country-made liquor, but was purchased from a vend in Dholna.
