2 detained with Rs 75 lakh

Two persons carrying Rs 75 lakh in Chattarpur here were detained today in a a suspected case of circulation of black money just a week ahead of Delhi assembly elections.

The duo, identified as Sukhpal (32) and Sandeep (27), both residents of village Berka in Sohna Tehsil of Haryana, are being interrogated by the Fatehpur Beri Police, officials from the Delhi's Chief Electoral office said.

The duo going towards Gurgaon in a vehicle were spotted during the checking of vehicles at Mandi Picket by Delhi Police with Static Surveillance Team and was signaled to stop but it did not and sped away.
 

Constable Chet Ram of Fatehpur Beri police station, along with another constable Nilesh of CISF, chased the vehicle and stopped it.

An inquiry showed that the duo were carrying a carton containing Rs 75 lakhs which they claimed was for a land deal, officials said.

Expenditure Observer S K Singh, Ex Magistrate D K Sinha were informed about the incident following which they reached the spot, checked the vehicle and found a carton containing Rs 75 lakh in the dicky of the vehicle and Rs 88,680 in a bag.

Deputy Director Income Tax, Rohit Anand, with a team reached spot and further investigation is being done in Fatehpur Beri police station.
