2 DGMS officials arrested on bribery charges

Two senior officials of Directorate General of Mine Safety (DGMS) in Ajmer have been arrested by CBI for allegedly demanding a bribe for issuing no objections certificate to a stone mine operator.

Dilip Saxena, Director of Mines (Safety) and Rajib Pal, Deputy Director of Mines (Safety) were arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively, CBI sources said.

"It is alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe for issuance of NOC in connection with cancellation of prohibitory orders imposed after inspection of complainant's stone mine situated at Daizer Bardia, Jodhpur," CBI Press Information Officer R K Gaur said here today.
 

He said CBI laid a trap and both the accused were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively from the complainant.

The official said searches were conducted at the residences of the accused which led to the recovery of incriminating documents.

He said both the arrested accused are being produced today in the designated Court at Jaipur.
