Two persons were killed and 10 others injured when two cars collided in southwest Delhi's Kapashera area on the wee hours today, police said.

The deceased were identified as Vicky (23) and Ram Prakash (60).

The duo, along with nine others, were heading towards Gurgaon in a Chevrolet Enjoy car after attending a marriage in west Delhi's Janakpuri area, a senior police official said.

The accident happened around 2 AM at an intersection at Samalkha in Kapashera when driver of a Hyundai Verna car, the only occupant in the vehicle, was taking a U-turn and the speeding Chevrolet rammed into it from a side.

"Police was informed and all occupants were rushed to a hospital. A case has been registered in connection with the matter," DCP (Southwest) Surender Kumar said.

While Prakash died on way to a hospital, Vicky succumbed to his injuries later.

The Chevrolet was being driven by a 19-year-old who allegedly did not possess a driving licence. He also allegedly jumped a signal before he hit the Verna car, an official privy to the investigation said.

It is also being probed whether any of the drivers involved in the accident were driving in an inebriated state. No alcohol bottles were recovered from the cars, he added.
