2 died, 36 injured in road accident in Punjab

Two persons, including a child, were today killed while 36 others injured in a road accident in Jamsher village in the district, police said.

The incident occurred when driver of a mini truck, in which at least 34 persons were travelling, lost his control over steering of the vehicle in a bid to save a motorcycle rider, they said.

Kamjeet Kaur (34) and her minor daughter Palak died on the spot while injured were admitted to Government Hospital here, they said.

The truck was carrying devotees from Amritsar to Kana Dhesia, police said.
