Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested today and a large quantity of contraband substances recovered in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said.
Abdul Qayoom and Ajaz Rather, residents of Ratnipora village of Kunzer, were in a truck which was intercepted by police at Upper Bazar Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, about 80 kms from here, they said.
Following a tip-off, the vehicle was intercepted and a search was conducted which led to the recovery of 5,000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 1,29,600 tablets, a senior police officer said.
The truck was seized and a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the two arrested persons, he added.
