Two ex-officials of Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) have been convicted in a bribery case by a CBI court here.

Senior special judge Nalin Kant Tyagi convicted the former manager Surendra Kumar and ex-superintendent Mahipal of the godown in Baman Heri village of Muzaffarnagar district and sentenced them to five years imprisonment and imposed a pecuniary fine of Rs 5 lakh on each of them, on Monday, senior prosecutor of CBI court, Naeem Raza told PTI.

Based on a complaint by a contractor Radhey Shyam, CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused while they were receiving a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 jointly on November 29, 2011.

The officials were to retire from service on November 30 and had allegedly demanded 10 per cent commission from the contractor for clearing a payment of Rs 1,70,00,000, according to a source.
