Two youth have been arrested for allegedly demanding Rs 20 lakh from a local trader and threating to kill his children if he failed to pay the ransom in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi.
Barqat Saifi (23) and Bilal Khan (23), both car mechanics and residents of Uttam Nagar, were arrested yesterday, police said.
Deepak, a trader, approached the police on January 1 saying he had received three ransom calls from unknown persons who he claimed also threatened to kidnap and kill his children.

"On January 3, accused Bilal Khan visited Deepak's shop and threatened him to come with ransom money at Chath Pooja Park, near Kakrolla Mor, Najafgarh drain. Deepak with Rs one lakh ransom money, accompanied by police teams, was sent at the given place.
"The cash Rs one lakh in black polythene was left on a motorcycle of the extortionists as per their directions," DCP (west) Puspendra Kumar said.
Kumar also said that when both, Bilal and Barqat, came to collect the ransom money, they were overpowered and cash was recovered from their possession.
