The governor of the Far North region of Cameroon says two female suicide bombers have attacked a mosque, leaving at least 10 dead and about a dozen wounded.

Midjiyawa Bakari said today the attack happened in the town of Kolofata on Cameroon's border with Nigeria. Bakari said the bombers are believed to have come from Nigeria, crossing over a few days ago.

Kolofata has been repeatedly attacked by Boko Haram militants. The extremist group's six-year insurgency has killed thousands in Nigeria, and across its borders.

Cameroon is one of five countries contributing troops to a regional force intended to wipe out Boko Haram, which became an affiliate of the Islamic State group last year.
