2 forest department officials suspended in J-K

Two forest department officials were today suspended after they were allegedly found involved in the illegal cutting of trees and smuggling of timber from Banihal area in this district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Forester Amar Chand and Forest Guard Bharat Singh posted at the compartment No-13 in the Ramban forest range were suspended today, an official of the forest department said.

The duo was placed under suspension after authorities found allegations levelled against them of being involved in the cutting and smuggling of timber to be true, he said.

A team led by the Divisional Forest Officer inspected the forest area and found the allegations against them true, following which he ordered the suspension of the duo with immediate effect, the official said.
