2 forest officials attacked by illegal miners in UP

Two forest department officers were attacked allegedly by illegal miners while bringing back three seized vehicles loaded with boulders at Chaura village, police said here today.

Divisional Forest Officer Ram Avtar Singh and ranger T P Singh seized three tractor trollies loaded with boulders in the jungles of Jugail during checking last evening, they said.

While the DFO was bringing back the vehicles to the office, he along with the ranger was attacked by illegal miners at Chaura village.

The two officials somehow managed to escape from the spot and reached Obra late night, they said.

A case has been lodged against 12 persons, including four named accused, but no arrest has been made so far, police said.
