Two persons dealing in Gems were arrested on charge of purchasing the precious stones illegally mined from Ghatsila Sub-division in East Singhbhum district today, a senior police officer said.
Acting on an information, a police team conducted raid in Dalbhumgarh lodge and arrested Vishal and Fakruddin, both Jaipur-based gem dealers, Superintendent of Police (rural) Shailendra Kumar Sinha said.
Sinha said 100 gms of Gem and garnet recovered from their possession.
The accused duo had also purchased the illegally mined gems on several occasions in the past, he said.
Asked about the local links in this regard, Sinha said "we have identified some local persons involved in the trade and police have started investigation.
