2 held for duping job seekers through fake HR firm

Two persons who allegedly ran a fake consultancy firm and duped job seekers up to Rs 30 lakh by promising employment in multi-national companies here have been arrested, police said today.

The duo identified as Illavarasan and Gurumurthy was running a fake human resource consultancy firm in city and collected up to Rs 30 lakh from several job seekers promising suitable placements in companies like Japanese automaker Nissan and US automobile major Ford, a police release said.

The accused had also issued offer letters using fake letterheads of the top companies, it said.

On realising that they have been cheated, the job seekers confronted the two and demanded return of their money following which they were absconding.
 

A special team arrested the duo recently. They were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody in Puzhal Central Prison here.

Police warned job seekers not to fall a prey to such persons and not pay money to individuals to get jobs in top companies. These companies do not ask public to pay for getting the offers, it pointed out.
