Two persons have been arrested for allegedly humiliating and abusing a school teacher at Balarampur village in Odisha's Nayagarh district, police said today.

The arrest was made yesterday after the teacher of Upper Primary school lodged a complaint before the police that a kangaroo court at the village humiliated and tormented him, said Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Itamati police station, Saroj Kumar Sahoo.

The teacher in his FIR filed on October 21 alleged that he was forced to negotiate through the stretched legs of an accused Mayadhara Pradhan at the kangaroo court the previous night as punishment in connection with a minor altercation. Pradhan's son made a video and uploaded it on social media, he said.

Though the teacher tendered an apology as directed by the kangaroo court for an earlier incident, he was subjected to inhuman treatment by the villagers who were armed, the police officer said.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the other accused persons, the IIC said.
