2 held for illegally selling China-made ultrasound machines

The Gurgaon police have arrested two businessmen for allegedly importing and selling China-made portable ultrasound machines flouting norms.

According to police, as many as 69 ultrasound machines used to detect gender of foetus had been imported illegally by the accused.

Haryana's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Rakesh Gupta and Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal told reporters that a raid was carried on Sonifarm India Private Limited at Manesar yesterday and Satnam Singh was arrested when he was trying to sell two such machines.

Police recovered Rs 2.25 lakh from his possession.

Police also raided a godown at Industrial Model Township in Manesar and seized 17 machines from there.
 

The officers said Satnam Singh and his colleague Gottum had confessed before the police that their company had imported 69 such machines from China.

Both the accused were today produced before the Judicial Magistrate, who sent both of them for two days' police custody.
