Two persons were arrested for allegedly killing a 34-year-old man in a drunken brawl near Rangamati tea garden in Malbazar area of the district, the police today said.

"The incident happened in front of a Sishu Siksha Kendra near the tea garden on Sunday night," a police officer said.

Budhua Oraon (34), a tea garden labourer, and two other persons were drinking together in a nearby playground and started arguing over something, the officer said.

This led to a fight and the two, identified as Arjun Porja and Issac Munda, allegedly beat up Oraon with sticks. According to residents, when Oraon fell unconscious, the duo smashed his head with a stone and killed him.

The police conducted raids based on information given by residents and later arrested the two accused. Oraon's body has been sent for post mortem, the police said.
