Two men have been arrested in connection with killing of a woman whose body was found near Shanti Van in central Delhi last month, police said.

Rahul Kumar (22), and Banti (23) were arrested in a massive manhunt by central Delhi police under which about 4500 vagabonds, rickshaw pullers, rag pickers, beggers and hawkers were examined in two weeks, DCP(Central) Mandeep Randhawa said.

The body of the woman, aged around 25-30, was found in a park opposite Shanti Van on May 14. Head of the body was crushed and it was partially clad. Two blood stained stones were also lying near dead body.

No witnesses were available, he said.

Using photograph and tatoo marks on right arm of the woman, police established her identity, Randhawa said.

Finally, she was identified as a ragpicker living in Chandni Chowk area. It was also found that she was befriended by Kumar whose name was tatooed on her arm, he said.

Also, it was found during investigation that Kumar along with his associate had disappeared after the body of the woman was found, the officer said.

He was arrested from Chandni Chowk, Randhawa said.

During interrogation he admitted his involvement in killing of the woman alongwith his friend Banti who was also arrested from Chandni Chowk, said the officer.

The blood stained clothes of the accused have also been recovered, he added.
