Two youths were arrested today for allegedly raping a minor girl in confinement, the police said.

The girl, daughter of a senior officer with the Central government and resident of Salt Lake, befriended the accused Virat Thakur alias Ashutosh of North 24 Parganas district's Jagaatdal and entered into a relationship, they said.

"The relationship led to a huge problem between the girl and her parents and on November 30 she left home and met Virat at the Bidhannagar Road railway station," a senior officer of Bidhannagar City Police said.

The accused took her to Jagaatdal and then to a residential complex of a jute mill where the other accused Shivam Pandey was staying, he said.

The girl has alleged that on the very night both Virat and Shivam raped her repeatedly, the IPS said adding, the victim managed to escape and reached home the next day.

The girl lodged a complaint with Bidhannagar North Police Station on the basis of which today the two accused have been arrested from Jagaatdal and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), the officer said.
