Two persons have been arrested for allegedly stealing luxury cars in Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab, police said today.

Deepak Khanna (35) and Ajit Singh (21) were arrested on October 30 by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police near Pragati Maidan here and 14 cars were recovered from them, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

Khanna, who runs a car accessory shop in Rajouri Garden and an auto sale purchase shop in Rohini, used to buy 'Cash Loss Certificates' issued by insurance companies to scrap dealers.

A 'Cash Loss Certificate' is issued when the cost to fix the vehicle and bring it to its pre-accident condition is greater than the value of the vehicle. The insurance company then issues this certificate and sells the vehicle to a scrap dealer.
