2 held for supplying illegal arms in Delhi

Delhi Police has arrested two persons, including the alleged gang leader, for supplying illegal arms and ammunition to various persons here and recovered weapons and cartridges from them.
Saurabh, 24, a resident of Dasna in Ghaziabad and Vinay Pawar, 23 who is from Jagatpuri in Delhi, were arrested yesterday at Karkari Mor in east Delhi where they had come in a car to deliver the consignment of arms to a local conduit of a gangster, police said.
A police team laid a trap acting on a tip off that the gang and its members, involved in trafficking of sophisticated weapons to criminals here, would visit east Delhi, they said.
 
The criminals were stopped and overpowered after a brief scuffle, they said, adding a 9 mm carbine machine gun, 8 pistols, a revolver, and 38 live cartridges of different bore were recovered from them.
The sophisticated weapons recovered were procured by them from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Munger in Bihar.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Arms Act has been lodged against them, police said, efforts were on to arrest their accomplices.
