2 held in Kanpur with charas worth Rs 3 crore

Charas worth Rs 3 crore was seized from an Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus here and two persons, including the driver of the vehicle, were arrested, police said today.

On a tip-off, a team of the Lucknow Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police seized 15 kg charas from the Jhakarkati bus stand here yesterday, they said.

The contraband was brought here from Siddharthnagar.

Driver of the bus Sanjay Tiwari and his accomplice Mohammed Iqbal were arrested.

The accused, residents of Gorakhpur, have confessed to their involvement in the case.

They said they had been involved in the crime for years and that they used to procure the consignment from Nepal, police said.
 

The accused have been taken to Lucknow where they will be quizzed about other members of the gang, they said.

They will also be questioned as to whom they used to supply the drugs.
