2 held with 400 kg cannabis

Two persons were arrested today for allegedly possessing around 400 kg of cannabis, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted and the accused Bhashankar Roy (58) and Viswanadh Roy (52), both residents of Patna, were nabbed from Aradagudem area in the district, Pedabayalu police station sub-inspector T Malleswara Rao said.

The seized contraband is worth Rs 12 lakh in international market, the officer said, adding a car, two mobiles and cash worth Rs 53,570 were also recovered from their possession.

A case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered, police said.
