2 held with Rs 30 lakh in demonetised currency notes

Two persons were arrested with Rs 30 lakh in demonetised currency notes and a licenced revolver from the vehicle of a former Samajwadi Party MLA during a checking drive here today, the police said.

"Mobin Haider and Deepak Kumar were arresed from Gomti Nagar area during a routine checking drive and Rs 30 lakh in demonetised currency notes and a revolver were recovered from them, SO of the Gomti Nagar police station, Anand Shukla said.

He also said that the vehicle, a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), was registered in the name of former SP MLA from Lucknow (Central) constituency Ravidas Mehrotra.
 

He said that the lincenc of the revolver.

During interrogation, both of them told police that they were trying to get the money coverted into new notes.

A probe in is on the matter.
