2 houses looted on Diwali night, 4 cops suspended

A gang of robbers looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from two houses in Darshan Nagar of Ayodhya Kotwali police station area here on Diwali night, following which four policemen were suspended on charges of dereliction of duty, police said today.

Armed with wooden sticks, around a dozen robbers, believed to be part of the notorious Bawariya gang, struck the houses on the outskirts of the city, beat up the family members and looted jewellery, cash and other valuables.

State minister Tej Narain Pandey visited the village and also met the injured admitted at the district hospital. Pandey spoke to DGP Jagmohan Yadav on phone and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and strict action against policemen for negligence.
 

Faizabad SSP Mohit Gupta said the in-charge of Darshan Nagar police outpost and three beat constables have been suspended and "we have rounded up certain miscreants and are interrogating them".
