Two people were injured when militants targeted a NATO container taking supplies to Afghanistan in the restive Balochistan province of Pakistan.

Armed militants opened fire at a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) container and injured its driver and cleaner in Chaman district here.

The attackers sped away on their motorcycle.

Both the injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Chaman for medical treatment. "Both had suffered bullet wounds," a police official Wahab Khan was quoted by the Dawn.

Officials said the container was going to Afghanistan taking supplies from Karachi for the NATO troops battling Taliban rebels in the war-torn country.

Militants and separatist elements have stepped up attacks on government and security installations in recent days in the province.
