Two labourers were injured today in a pressure bomb explosion suspected to have been planted by naxals near an under construction road site in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district, police said.

"The incident occurred while the workers were carrying out construction at Fundari hills on Bijapur-Bhairamgarh road under Bhairamgarh police station limits," Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela toldPTI.

While work was underway, the labourers accidentally came in contact with a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) laid by the Maoists, which exploded injuring their faces, the ASP said.

The injured were identified as Shubam Roy and Manoj Vishwakarma, both aged 21.

Soon after the incident, security forces rushed the injured to a local hospital from where they were shifted to Jagdalpur for better treatment, the ASP added.
