Sleuths of the Special Operation Group (SOG) today arrested two inter-state arms smugglers after seizing five each of pistols and "desi-katta" (country-made pistol) from their possession in Dholpur district's Badi town, a top SOG official said here.

The accused were identified as Pooran Singh Meena alias Pappu and Devi Charan, hailing from Sarmathura in Dholpur district, Additional DG-ATS and SOG Dr Alok Tripathi said.

The ADG said there was a tip that arms smugglers from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were active in illegal trade of arms and ammunition in Rajasthan, especially in the dacoit infested Dholpur terrain.

The SOG had earlier arrested two smugglers on June 19, 2015 who were bringing contraband from Uttar Pradesh, he said.

A case against today's accused was lodged at SOG Police station, and the investigation was on.
