Two members of a family were killed and another seriously injured when they were attacked with sharp-edged weapons in Mirpur-Hirpur village here, police said today.
Omkar (45), his nephew Raju (30) and his brother Mevalal were going to their agriculture field last evening under Bilsanda police station area when the members of another family attacked them with axe, they said.
While Omkar and Raju died on the spot, Mevalal was rushed to Shahjahanpur hospital in a serious condition, they said.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection against the accused, they said.
The murder is said to be a fallout of rivalry over attempted rape of an 11 year-old girl of rivals' family in which Mevalal's minor son is an accused and is presently lodged in a juvenile home, police said, adding that investigations are on.
