At least two Egyptians were killed and nearly 200 others injured today when clashes erupted between supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and those who oppose them in Egypt's delta region.

In Mansura city in the region where violent clashes broke out, shops belonging to the members of Muslim Brotherhood were torched. The clashes also erupted in others cities like Tanta.

Meanwhile, in capital Cairo thousands of people have assembled at the iconic Tahrir square in anticipation of President Mohammed Mursi's speech which is expected soon.

The protesters are holding red cards and calling on President Morsi to step down.

There have not been any details about the speech but a presidential advisor said it would be a checklist from the president to the people highlighting his achievements during a year in power.

Amid the tension military tanks have started deployment in the streets of Cairo around the main establishments including the central bank and the presidential palace.
