Two persons died and three others were injured when a private SUV rammed into passing two wheelers and a by-stander near a private technical institution at Kalyani in Nadia district today.
Police said the luxary four-wheeler suddenly veered to one side and mowed down a cyclist and a biker and knocked down a by-stander, two other cyclists near the private engineering college on Kalyani-Barrackpore Expressway.
Local people said the car was being driven by an IAF personnel.

SDPO, Kalyani, Kaustuvdipta Acharjee also said, the driver of the car, the Arunava Dutta of Kalyani B block claimed himself to be a wing Commander of Indian Air Force and currently in police custody.
One of the victims was Bimal Chakraborty (47) of Kalyani Rathtala. The other unidentified victim too was on cycle.
