2 killed after being struck by lightning in J'khand

Two persons were killed and as many injured this evening after being struck by lightning in Bana village, about 55 kms from here, in Jharkhand's Saraikela-Kharswan district, police said.

The incident occurred when storm accompanied by rain and thunderbolt lashed the area.

The victims, who were at a social function, took shelter under a tamarind tree, police said.

They fell unconscious after lightning struck them. They were taken to a nearby primary health centre by the villagers, sources said

They said while doctors declared Somay Hansda (25) and Krishan Hansda (22) brought dead, two others identified as 27-year-old Diku Hansda and 26-year-old Surai Besra were seriously injured.

 

The injured have been referred to the M G M Hospital here, where they have been admitted.
