2 killed after cars collide in UP's Amethi

Two persons died and as many were injured after two cars collided with each other in Kaji Patti area of Uttar Pradesh's Amethi district, police said on Tuesday.

The accident took place on the Banda-Tanda national highway on Monday night.

The impact of the collision was so huge that one car fell into a gorge and two of the four people in the vehicle died at the spot, police said.

"The injured were given first aid at the district hospital and then sent to Lucknow for further treatment," Medical officer of district hospital Dr Pitambar Kannaujia said.

The deceased have been identified as Pankaj Vishwakarma (29) and Rajeev Rai (32).
