2 killed as high-tension wire comes in contact with their van

Two woman were killed today when the roof of a pick up van they were travelling in came in contact with a high tension wire here, police said.

Kalawati (50) and Gyanwati (58) had taken lift in the pick up van which had an iron angle on the rooftop which came in touch with a 11-thousand volt wire hanging loose on Darapur-Basai road in Kotwali Bisauli police station area, SSP, Saumitra Yadav said.

The van caught fire and the two women died on the spot while the driver, who somehow jumped from vehicle, suffered serious injuries, he said.

The deceased, both residents of Dharampur village, were sisters-in-law, he added.
