Two persons were killed and two others injured when the eaves of an under-construction building collapsed at Shikaripada in Dumka district today, the police said.

The incident occurred as some people were watching a football match sitting on the eaves of the under-construction building which collapsed.

Chando Baskey (55) of Ambajora village and Sushil Marandi (35), a resident of Kolha Badar village were killed on the spot, the police said.

The injured persons, Rajan Jadopatiya and Manik Hansda, were admitted to Maulpahari Hospital.

The football match was organised on the occasion of 'Hul Diwas' (Revolution day) at Shaikaripada College ground.

The day was observed across the state to pay tribute to four martyr brothers -- Sidhu, Kanho, Chand and Bhairav -- who had launched a revolution with the support of tribals against the British on this day in 1855.
