Press Trust of India Tirunelveli
: Two persons were killed in a clash between two groups at Pannankulam village in the district, triggering tension in and around the hamlet.

Police said a four member armed gang, belonging to one group, hacked three men late last night, killing one on the spot and badly injuring another.

The body of another man was found this morning.

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that one more person seemed to have escaped the attack. However his fate was not clear.

They said about 200 people from Paanankulam blocked vehicular traffic on the Tirunelveli-Moonradaippu road on coming to hear about the murders. Discussions are on to persuade them to lift the blockade, they said.

A local dispute was reportedly the reason for the clash.
