2 killed in land dispute

Two persons died and

three others were injured over a land dispute between two families at Bamundongra village in Assam's Barpeta district today, police said.

The two deceased were brothers Jakir Hussain and Anowar Hussain of the same family, police said.

The families of the two siblings and the family of Sayed Ali, a teacher of Bamundongra village, were in discord over a piece of land for a long period, police said.

Today Sayed Ali entered the house of Jakir Hussain and Anowar Hussain along with a group of people and killed both Jakir Hussain and Anowar Hussain in their house, police said quoting the complaint.
 

Three persons - family members of the two brothers - were seriously injured in the incident and they were identified as Rinku Ali, Ahmed Ali and Joynal Abedeen.

The injured were admitted to Barpeta Medical College Hospital.

Police arrested seven persons.
