2 killed in mishaps in Begusarai

Two persons were killed in separate accidents on National Highway 31 in Bihar's Begusarai district today.

One Rakesh Kumar Sharma, a school teacher, was hit by an unidentified vehicle on NH 31 while he was on morning walk near Subhash Chowk within Town police station limits in the district, town police station house officer (SHO) Ali Sabri said.

The SHO said that the deceased hailed from Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh.

In the second incident, Ajit Kumar Devraj alias Munna Poddar (42),was killed when he was knocked down by a truck on the NH 31 near Husainiganj area within Balia police station limits today early morning due to dense fog, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Braj Kishore Choudhary said.
 

This victim was identified as a resident of Barbighi village, the SDO said.

Local people blocked NH 31 for six hours protesting against the incident, demanded adequate compensation for the deceased's family members, besides seeking assurance from the administration to put a check on the frequent the road accidents in the area.

The road blockade was lifted following intervention of senior police officers.
