2 killed in road mishap near Amravati

A woman and a girl were killed on the spot while six others were injured when a taxi in which they were travelling rammed into a parked truck at the Nandgaonpeth toll pot on Sunday morning.

The Nadgaon police identified the deceased as Nita Ramesh Thakare (35), a resident of Pawade plot, Gadge Nagar here and Samiksha Wasudeo Sable (19), a resident of Nimbhi village in Morshi tehsil.

Those injured include Mayuri Bawaskar, Trupti Bhalerao, Vaishnavi Bhalerao, Ketaki Bhalerao, Pramod Bhele and Sagar Thakare.

Some of those injured have been admitted to the district general hospital while some were admitted to private hospitals.
 

The police said that the taxi which was carrying passengers from Gadgenagar to Morshi reached Nangaonpeth around 10.30 am this morning, the driver rammed it into a parked truck resulting in the death Nita Thakare and Samiksha Sable, who were on their way to attend a marriage at Morshi.

The Nandgaon police has arrested the driver of the taxi which belonged to one Ashok Rewatkar.
