2 killed in separate road accidents

Two persons were killed and as many injured in two separate road accidents in Renuka and Paonta areas here today.

The driver of a pick-up van, Ram Datt (26), was killed and two other occupants were critically injured when the jeep, on its way from Dadahu to Sangrah, rolled down a gorge near Khewga village, about 50 KM from here, police said.

Ram, a resident of Lana Mashoor village, died on the spot. The injured -- Kalyan (23) of Khillaud and Rajender (21) of Banlog village in Renuka -- were rushed to the Dadahu Referral Hospital, from where both were shifted to the Nahan district hospital.
 

Sangrah tehsildar Prithvi Singh visited the spot and disbursed immediate relief of Rs 20,000 to the kin of the deceased, Rs 5,000 each to the injured.

In another accident, Irshad (26), a resident of Dhaulan Kuan area, was crushed to death by a speeding truck.

Police have identified the truck and a police team has been sent to nab its driver.

The body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem this evening, Paonta Sahib DSP Yogesh Rolta said.
