Two persons died due to severe cold in Uttar Pradesh as light to moderate rains lashed several eastern areas of the state today.
Two persons died due to cold wave in Bhadohi district, sources said.
Following the dense fog and cold wave conditions, Lucknow District Magistrate Anurag Yadav ordered closure of all schools from Class I to VIII till January 18.
Lowest minimum temperature of 4.2 deg Celsius was recorded at Etawah.
Night temperature rose slightly in Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Agra divisions and changed little elsewhere.
It was above normal at Varanasi, Faizabad, Bareilly, Moradabad divisions and normal in the remaining divisions.
According to MeT department here, weather was mainly dry over the state and dense to moderate fog was witnessed at many places.
It said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers occurred a few places over east UP.
The MeT department has predicted dry weather with moderate fog at few places in the state.
