Two Naxals and nine militia members, working for banned outfit CPI (Maoists), today surrendered before police here.

The Naxal duo -- P Chinna Rao and G Malleswara Rao -- worked for Pedabayalu Dalam of CPI-Maoist in Agency area of Visakhapatnam, but turned themselves in before the district police, said SP Koya Praveen.

He said the duo played an active role in Maoist-related movements and had been part of the Dalam since 2014.

"The duo were involved in criminal activities along with Maoists and worked as sentries during the murder of one B Balakrishna in Killamkota village. They were also involved in the attack on a Ashram in Gudalam Veedhi in Agency area," the SP said.

The other nine militia members worked as informants for the banned outfit and used to report on the movements of police in the area, he said.

They decided to surrender as they wanted to lead a peaceful life with their family members, he said.

"As per the government policy on surrender by Naxals, they would be rehabilitated and will be provided with Rs 10,000 each as immediate relief," the officer added.
