2 militants killed in search operation in Karachi

Two militants of a Tehreek-e-Taliban splinter group involved in the target killing of 14 Pakistani policemen were killed here during a search operation, police said.

The counter terrorism department (CTD) of Karachi police launched a search operation near the Northern bypass area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal after militants shot dead two policemen last night.

"In the operation there was an exchange of fire between the militants and the police and the two were killed," Senior police official Ali Reza said.

He said the two militants were involved in target killing of 12 policemen and belonged to the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) Sher Khan group.
