2 ministers, Azharuddin among 81 in fray for Raj's 5 seats

Two Union ministers and cricketer- turned-politician Mohd Azharuddin are among 81 candidates for Rajasthan's second phase of polling on April 24 in five Lok Sabha constituencies.

Altogether 112 candidates had filed their nomination papers for the five LS seats, and after scrutiny and withdrawal process which completed today 81 candidates are left in the poll fray, a CEO spokesman said here.

As many as 22 candidates are in the fray in the Tonk- Sawaimadhopur LS seat, followed by 19 in Alwar, 14 each in Dausa and Karauli-Dholpur LS constituencies, and 12 in Bharatpur, the spokesman said.

Union Minister of State for Finance Namo Narayan Meena (Congress) will be contesting against his younger brother and BJP's H C Meena from Dausa LS seat, where NPP's state President Dr Kirori Lal Meena has made it a triangular contest. Kirori was the sitting MP from Dasua, and he quit it after elected to the state Assembly last year.
 

Union Minister of State for Sports and sitting MP Jitendra Singh (Congress) is pitted against BJP candidate Mahant Chandnath Yogi from Alwar seat.

Former cricketer and Congress candidate Mohd Azharuddin would be contesting against BJP's Sukhbhir Singh Jaunpuria on Tonk-Sawaimadhopur LS seat.

Congress' Suresh Jatav and BJP's Bahadur Singh Koli were contesting the LS election from Bharatpur, while Lakhiram of Congress and Manoj Rajoria of BJP are contestants from the Karauli-Dholpur LS seat.
