Chetia said the plantation was on the hills in Nagaland side of the border while the workers lived on the foot-hills which fell on the Assam side.
The duo were missing since violence broke out on August 12 when miscreants from a neighbouring area fired at border villages. Nine bodies had been recovered earlier.
The violence was followed by large-scale protests in Golaghat district with roads being blocked and subsequently the police had to fire to disperse a mob which led to the killing of three persons and imposition of curfew in the district.
The situation has improved gradually since then though night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am remained in force to prevent any untoward incident.
