Two militants convicted in the 1995 Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassination case were today released on parole from modern Burail jail here.
Following their release former terrorist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, fighting for their cause over 40 days by going on fast, ended his hunger strike at Akal Takhat in Amritsar.
Khalsa, who had after a meeting with Akal Takhat head Gurbachan Singh at a Sikh shrine in Mohali near here, had announced that he will end his fast on condition that two other Sikh detainees get parole.

Both the convicts were released after furnishing sureties to the tune of Rs one lakh each.
They have been released on parole on "stringent grounds", officials said, adding both will stay at their native places and will have to report to concerned police station twice a week.
They can leave the station in case of emergency only after due permission from concerned District Magistrates, officials said.
Family members of Lakhwinder Singh, who hails from Ludhiana and Shamsher Singh from Patiala along with activists of radical Dal Khalsa outfit were present outside the jail to receive them.
After getting parole, both the convicts dashed to Gurudwara Amb Sahib in Mohali to pay obeisance before leaving for their destinations.
Meanwhile, Gurbaksh accompanied with certain members of radical outfit Dal Khalsa at Akal Takht - top temopral seat of Sikhs - at Amritsar performed paryers and ended his over 40 days of fast.
