2 more persons arrested in firing incident near Qutub Minar

Two more persons were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old youth over a monetary issue, near Qutub Minar in south Delhi.

The two, identified as Rajat Chauhan and Sanjiv Sharma, were arrested last night, near Knowledge Park area here.

On March 9, one 24-year-old Sonu Sejwal who worked in a five-star hotel in central Delhi was shot dead by some persons and his friend Sandeep was injured in the attack near Qutub Minar while they were sipping tea at a kiosk.

With the arrest of the two accused, the number of persons detained in connection with the case is 10.
 

Earlier, the police had arrested eight accused, identified as Neeraj (31), Arvind Kumar (30), Karanjit (27), Ravinder Pawar (24), Kamal (30), Jagmohal Sagar (30), Dhrup (28), and Kartik (30).

Neeraj, the alleged mastermind behind the incident, had some monetary issue with Narendra, a friend of Sonu.

In order to settle this dispute permanently, he along with two three other persons reached a dhaba near Lado Sarai Tea Point around 11 AM on March 11 where Narender, Ashok, Sandeep, and Sonu met him. Narender threatened Neeraj of dire consequences if he did not return his money.

Neeraj, thereafter called his other associates to counter the threat given by Narender and they all gathered near Lado Sarai park and arranged weapons and vehicles.

Neeraj and Rohit opened fire at the opponent group and they all escaped from the spot.
