2 motorcyclists killed, one injured in road mishap

Two motorcyclists were killed and one person was seriously injured when their bike collided with an autorickshaw on the city outskirts, police said today.

The mishap occurred last night after the driver of a jeep lost control of his vehicle at the city's Makhamalabad naka on Peth road, about 7 kms from Nashik, following which it collided with a road divider, Panchavati police station in-charge Shantaram Avsare said.

As a result, the motorcyclists who were behind the jeep, also lost control of their bike due to which their two-wheeler rammed into the autorickshaw, he said.

Both the persons on the bike died in the mishap while the autorickshaw driver sustained injuries, he said.
 

The deceased were identified as Prasad Akhade (35), resident of Hanumanwadi in Nashik and Samadhan Murtadak (25), from Kranti Nagar in the city.

The injured autorickshaw driver was admitted to civil hospital, Avsare said adding that an offence has been registered against the jeep driver, who is absconding after the accident.
