2 motorists killed in road accident

Two factory workers were killed today when their motorcycles were hit by a lorry on Rewari-Pataudi road near Kakodia village, about 10 km from here, police said.

Police said Jaswant Singh (36), an employee of Exide Industries, and Surender Kumar of Maruti's Gurgaon unit died in the accident.

Singh, a resident of Khandewala village near Pataudi in Gurgaon district, was on his way from Pataudi to Rewari, and Kumar of Dulheda village in Narnaul of Mahendergarh district was going to Pataudi when the accident took place.

Irate workers of Exide Industries placed the body of Singh, after a post-mortem examination was conducted at the local civil hospital, at the main gate of the factory near Kasaula and held a demonstration demanding that his kin be paid a compensation of Rs 50 lakh by the management.
 

The demonstration was withdrawn after the management agreed to hold talks over compensation. A police officer said they had registered a case against the truck driver who sped away after the accident.
