2 MoUs signed for solid waste management in Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union minister Venkaiah Naidu today signed two Memoranda of Understanding on solid waste management for Gurgaon-Faridabad and Sonipat clusters.

The MoUs were signed during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Naidu to review various schemes of the Ministries of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, as well as Information and Broadcasting here, an official spokesman said.

While the Gurgaon-Faridabad cluster would include Gurgaon and Faridabad town, Sonipat cluster would include Sonipat, Panipat, Samalkha and Ganaur towns.

Later, Naidu and Khattar presented certificates to ten Open Defecation Free (ODF) cities. These included Thanesar, Shahbad, Ladwa and Pehowa of district Kurukshetra; Sirsa, Mandi Dabwali, Ellenabad, Rania and Kalanwali of district Sirsa and Panipat, the spokesman said.
 

The remaining cities will be made ODF by September 25, 2017, Khattar announced.

He also appreciated the 'Swachh App' launched by the state government in three cities namely Gurgaon, Karnal and Rohtak to encourage people towards cleanliness.
